The Ultimate Guide to Making the Most Luxurious Whipped Tallow Cream
Today we are going to be learning how to make Whipped Tallow Cream! This usually makes 6-8 4oz jars for me!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of rendered tallow
- 1/4 cup of carrier oil (I use Jojoba Oil)
- 10–20 drops of essential oil (optional, for fragrance; lavender or frankincense are great options)
Instructions:
- Render the Tallow (if not already done): If you're starting with raw tallow, you'll need to render it first. Cut it into small pieces and cook it over low heat until it melts, then strain out the solids using a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer (I use paper towels!)
- Melt the Tallow: In a heatproof container, gently melt the rendered tallow. You can do this by placing it in a double boiler or heating it in the microwave in short bursts. Make sure it's fully melted before proceeding.
- Add the Carrier Oil: Once the tallow is melted, add the carrier oil of your choice. This helps soften the tallow and gives the cream a smoother texture.
- Optional: Add Essential Oils: If you want to scent your whipped cream, add essential oils now. Stir them in thoroughly.
- Cool Down: Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for a few minutes, then place it in the fridge for 30 minutes to an hour until it begins to solidify but is not fully hard.
- Whip the Mixture: Using a hand mixer, stand mixer, or a whisk, begin whipping the cooled tallow and oil mixture on medium speed. Whip it for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes light and fluffy, similar to the consistency of whipped butter.
- Store: Transfer the whipped tallow cream to a clean jar or container with a lid. Store it at room temperature, or in the fridge if you prefer a firmer texture.
Tips:
- If your cream becomes too firm, simply leave it at room temperature for a while or warm it slightly.
- Tallow can be a little greasy, so start with a small amount to see how your skin reacts, especially if you have sensitive skin.
- You can experiment with different oils and essential oils to customize the texture and fragrance.
Enjoy your homemade whipped tallow cream for a nourishing, natural moisturizer!
